Seven Years

February 26th 2000 - the night Dave and I met. That was 7 years ago Today. We met at a wine tasting party and then we had a first date on March 4th, 2000. We have basically been together everday since. Wow! So much has happened in that amount of time, so many wonderful things. I can't imagine experiencing this journey with anyone else. Dave and I talk about how much fun we had when we lived in the apartment and life was so carefree. I talk of the apartment because that is where we lived when I started scrapbooking. After Dave and I were together for a little while, he said to me "you need a hobby". (I giggle to myself when I was think about him saying that because little did he know what a monster he was creating!) So scrapbooking became part of my life, like comic books are a part of his life. Thanks Honey!!!!

This page below is part of the first "kit" I ever purchased, probably from Michaels. I am not by any means ashamed of any of my first scrapbooks. I love them all equally. I love looking at the way the products and techniques have evolved. Matter of fact, I still have a bunch of supplies from when I first started scrapbooking. I enjoy sitting down with a good cup of coffee and looking at all my old scrapbooks. The only thing I wish I did now was a little more journaling, I could have at least put some dates on these layouts! LOL And just for good measure, I had to add a scan of this lovely page. Karen and I scrapbooking. We had both only been scrapbooking a short amount of time but we had already accumulated tons of products. Not much has changed in that sense! Luv Ya Karen and I am glad it is 7 years later and we still share the love for the hobby of scrapbooking.

Upside Down

This past week has been upside down. My upstairs bathroom is being remodeled and it is chaotic. It of course will be great when it is done, but in the meantime it is driving me crazy. After being a SAHM mom now for over 2 years, I have developed a pattern or a schedule (ohhh I hate that word) I am in a rhythm. But not this week.

People in and out of the house, the dog going to doggy daycare, not knowing what is going to be done next and when, the little one trying to climb up the stairs etc etc. Dave is doing a great job painting. Usually I would try to help but some one has to watch Lil D. (who is feeling under the weather today). It makes me reconsider if I really want to much other work done in the house. Oh did I mention the plaster dust... it is even covering everything in my livingroom which is downstairs. not fun.

Here are some pictures from this past week. In the "Upside Down" theme, Lil D has been trying to stand on his head all week. So funny. I can't wait to scrapbook these.

Scrapbooking Weekend

Last Friday and Saturday I got to go away scrapbooking at Right At Home Scrapbooking. Friday night I went to a crop and they also had a class with Jennifer Stewart making the cutest ribbon box. Saturday, Karen met me for the all day crop. We had a blast. It was so nice to have adult conversation and to spend the day with my best friend. We did alot of chit chatting but we also managed to also do some scrapbooking and a little shopping.
Here is the ribbon box. I was lucky enough to make 2 of them one on Friday night and on Saturday night. I have so much ribbon I probably could use about 10 more them!

Karen made this beautiful layout for me. I love it - perfect for that photo. 8x8 pages for my album of all pictures of my grandmother, lil D's GG

I L*O*V*E this Autumn Leaves Splendor Page kit (from oriental trading) I made 4 12x12 layouts and I have more leftover.

Okay, so I love this page too. Those cute stickers are from the dollar store. And the words stickers and some of the patterened papers are MM Cheeky line.

I couldn't wait to get these funny pictures scrapped but I wasn't sure which products I wanted to use. But this all just came together. I drew the monkey freehand and then did a paperpiecing.
Love these photos too and the paper was perfect. The other words and shapes are rub-ons.
Another layout with Dollar Store paper. I inked everything and the stamps are Rhonna Swirls. This is the 2nd page of a two page spread.

This layout is lil D playing in the snow in December 2006. This paper is so pretty.

Thanks for looking!!!! And a Big Thanks to Hubby Dave for letting me go away for the weekend. It was refreshing and alot of fun!

New Layouts

In the past few weeks I have been attempting to scrapbook but it is a long drawn out process. Of course, it would be easier to do some simple layouts but I prefer to challenge myself a little. I cut out lots of patterned paper, used tons of rub ons, used many layering and distressing techniques and even pulled out my sewing machine and stitched on a page. It was a lot of fun and it is nice to see the pages completed. I love using all the products I have. I also like to kinda use the artistic approach and think out of the box. Right now my scrapbooking is so out of control, I am randomly scrapbooking which ever pictures are on top of the pile. Which is fine, it keeps me on my toes!

Here is some of my work (ps the lighting i used to photograph the layouts was lousy, so please excuse if the colors are a bit off)
I absolutely love this Foofala Summer page kit. I couldn't wait to use it and add ribbon to.

(layout with the sewing)

This next 2 page layout was a lot of fun. I purchased these Urban Lily papers a while back. I love the stricking colors and it was a bit challenging. I cut out all of the flowers, then stamped some and also added some Heidi Swapp bling to a few of them.

And last, this layout has taken a lot of time, but I think well worth it. I was inspired by this Cherry Arte paper called Starburst. I thought it was really cool but I don't use pink or purple in many of my layouts. I had purchased some blue and orange (fav colors around here) paper from the Dollar Tree and I was so excited to use it. I also love this picture of Lil d from last year and was just waiting for the right products so I could scrapbook it. I absolutely LOVE the Autumn Leaves stamps. They are awesome! I also used a lot of pop ups on this page but it didn't show up too much.

Okay that is it for now. If I didn't need to be up in the morning, i wish I could stay up all night and scrapbook! I have so many ideas in my head!

I'm Two!!!

Mommy: "David how old are you?"

Lil D: "Two"

"Daddy: "David what is 1+1?"

Lil D: "Two"

Mommy: "David, what is 4 - 2?"

Lil D: "Two"

Mommy & Daddy "David You are so Smart!"
Two has been an interesting Age...All 25 days of it so far. Very fun don't get me wrong it is super busy. Mama doesn't get much of a break these days but I am not complaining. My fun little 2 year old, on the go! Running, jumping, dancing, singing, knocking down safety gates, getting into everything and reaching everything. He knows where everything goes and tries to help himself to everything, including the stuff on the countertops, in the refrigerator (which now has a lock) and even opening the locked door to get outside. If something is locked and he can't get in, he wants to know where the "key" is . The learning and discovering is just amazing and I feel blessed to be a SAHM and be able to enjoy it daily. He's a Funny little boy. We went for his 2 year check up and he is measuring 36 1/4 inches tall and 31 lbs. 90% for height, 75% for weight. The doctor was really happy with that and commented that obviously he is eating just fine. The doctor also commented that I shouldn't be surprised that people may mistake D for a 3 year old because that is the size he is...that of a 3 year old. We've been having a few sleep issues lately but the doctor seems to think it is from the sicknesses we all had over the holidays and it really threw off the sleep schedule we had. I have been really working hard the past week trying to get things back on track. We have a bedtime routine that we have had inplace ever since he had a bedtime back when he was in a crib. I have started a new naptime routine and it is working well. So if I need to go out, it has to be either in the am or after nap. I am trying to do lunch and then the nap, no sleeping in the car. So far so good, one day at a time though.
